Get lost in the largest coastal forest in East Africa
The Arabuko-Sokoke forest is home to over 270 species of birds, including several rare and endemic species, as well as some of Kenya’s rarest mammals, including the Golden-rumped Elephant-shrew, Sokoke Bushy-tailed Mongoose and Ader’s Duiker, and a herd of elephants to boot! All less than 30 mins from Himaya.
Above you can see the Sokoke owls - hard to spot but so special if you do!
Water Based Activities
Kitesurfing, windsurfing, reef surfing, snorkelling, glass bottom boat trips, SUP paddle boarding, sunset dhows; you name it, we can organise it. If the swell is right, there are also a number of breaks for reef surfing.
We are a short drive away from Che Shale, known as the home of kite surfing in East Africa, both a great place to learn and also for those more experienced to clock up some hours.
Gedi Ruins
Dating back to the eleventh or early twelfth century, the Gedi ruins are a stunning example of early coastal life. Remarkably intact and located in a beautiful 45 acre piece of land, it’s a great place to walk around
